Morr Jobe the proprietor and Managing Director of MJ Finance has informed this paper that his Albert Market branch in Banjul was broken into by a gang of thieves last Sunday, but was quick to add that they did not succeed in their operation.
According to Mr. Jobe, his cleaner informed him that the office was broken into and that, upon receiving the news, he rushed to the place to find out what happened. "Luckily, the thieves could not break the safe, despite using a chisel and other tools to get the money inside," he revealed.
"What actually saved me was the safe was well protected; if not they would have succeeded," Jobe said.
He raised concern over what he described as "rampant theft" in the country, noting that one month ago a similar thing happened to one of his friends. He said thieves managed to break his safe, and took a lot of money away.
