Regional Athletes Arrive Today

The National Sport Coordinator Mr Musa Mendy has told Pointsports that regional LowerBasicSchool sport athletes from Regions three, four, five and six will arrive today in Banjul.

He said the athletes will be camped at the NYSS headquarters in Bakau while regions one and two will be based in their various regions.

According to Mr. Mendy there will be no more 80m and 160m for junior boys this year. He said that instead the athletes will compete for 100m and 200m junior boys.

Mr. Mendy indicated that High jump for intermediate and senior boys is introduced in this year's competition for the first time, adding that the athletes with the highest number of points will go home with a trophy.

Coordinator Mendy added that this year LowerBasicSchool athletes meeting will be the second of its kind and he said the competition will start at 2:00pm.

He revealed that two weeks ago his committee made a country-wide tour to all regions to sensitize the Regional Governors and education officials about this year athletics sport competition.
