Region 1 recently held their annual athletics heat at the Independence Stadium in Bakau, as part of preparations for the forthcoming inter-regional athletics championship slated for February 18 at the Independence Stadium.
The event, which brought together athletes from all lower basic schools within the region, was organised to scout out for good athletes that will represent Region 1 in the inter-regional athletics championship.
The event was part of The Gambia's 46th Independence Anniversary celebration.
It would be recalled that Region 1 finished second spot in last year’s championship behind the champions Region 2.
