Real Madrid pound Pentagon in Late Lamin Jawo Memorial Tourney

Real Madrid FC of Sukuta on Saturday defeated Pentagon FC of Gunjur in the late Lamin Jawo Memorial football tournament played at the Gunjur Nyamina Football Field.

The tournament was organized by Pentagon FC in memory of their fallen colleague and young aspiring goalkeeper late Lamin Jawo, who passed away in 2012.

The memorial football tournament saw both sides putting up a respectable performance, and caused a series of assaults at each other’s goal-mouth, but the first half failed to produce a goal.

Upon resumption of the game, both sides brought in several fresh legs to boost their attacking tag.

It was Real Madrid FC whose substitutions paid dividends, and they scored a brilliant goal, which earned them a hard fought win over their hosts, Pentagon FC, in the late Lamin Jawo memorial football tournament.

The young talented net-minder Lamin Jawo had started his career with Young Loving Brothers FC in Gunjur Junior Nawettan in 2003, but where eliminated in the group staged in that season.

Jawo made his debut in Gunjur Senior Nawettan in 2004 for Ajax FC where he won a series of trophies and accolades during his time with Amsterdam boys.

Jawo has also played for Arsenal FC, and he helped the Gunners to reach the 2007 Gunjur Knock out final where they lost to Commit FC 2-1.

Jawo was part of the Gunjur team that lost to Wellingara on penalties in the 2005 West Coast Region third division qualifiers, after a 1-all draw in regulation time in a tightly-contested game played at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium.

The young talented goal post custodian, Lamin Jawo, also played for NAS FC before his demise in 2012.
