Real De Banjul stretch Samger to maintain lead in GFF 1st division league

Real De Banjul on Sunday defeated Samger 1-0 in the week-seven fixtures played at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium to keep their one-point lead in the 2016-2017 Gambia Football Federation domestic division one league.

Real De Banjul were leading second spot Gambia Armed Forces one point prior to the Christmas and New Year’s break before their slender win over Academy boys in a mouth-watering fixtures at the capital’s biggest football arena.

Striker Yankuba Jarjue’s lone strike was enough to earn Real De Banjul their fifth straight win in the country’s national league after losing to Brikama United in their opening league fixtures played at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium in November 2016.

Real De Banjul are still leading the league with 15 points in six games one point ahead of second-place Gambia Armed Forces with 14 points in six matches after beating Gamtel 1-0 at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.

Elsewhere, the newly-promoted side Marimoo beat Bakau giant killers Steve Biko 1-0 in the other week-seven fixtures played at the Father Gough Sports Complex in Manjai Kunda on the same day.

Marimoo are fourth place after snatching 10 points in six league games and Steve Biko are mid-table with 6 points in six league matches.

Samger are second place from bottom in the top flight with 5 points in six matches and are expecting to win their next league fixtures to move away from relegation zone and secure good position in the league.
