Real De Banjul on Sunday beat city-rivals Wallidan 1-0 in an all-Banjul derby game in the week-four fixtures of the 2013-2014 Gambia Football Federation division league played at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium.
Real De Banjul and Wallidan are arch-rivals and are the two most decorated football clubs in the country’s premier league, as they have won series of trophies.
Wallidan were the better side in the first half and caused serious assaults at Real De Banjul’s goal mouth.
Modou Lamin Saho could have opened the scores for Wallidan in the first half from the penalty spot but his shot was denied by the wood work.
Real De Banjul, who were struggling in the first half, opened the scoring through Farama Jarju in the second half to earn the city boys the vital three points.
Wallidan responded quickly for an equalizer and created numerous scoring opportunities but failed to make an impact thus the game ended 1-0 in favour of Real De Banjul.
Gambia Ports Authority were held to a goalless draw by fancy Interior side at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium.
Elsewhere, Gamtel also drew 0-0 with the newly-promoted side Banjul United at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium on the same day.
Real De Banjul and Interior are 3rd and 4th positions on the league table with 8 points each in four games.
Gamtel and Banjul United are 5th and 6th positions respectively with 6 points each in four games.
Wallidan are 9th position with 3 points in four outings, while Gambia Ports Authority are languishing at the bottom of the table with 2 points in four games.
