PW6 testifies in theft case

The sixth prosecution witness (PW6) recently testified in the trial of one Bakary Gibba, accused of stealing before Magistrate P. Sarra of the Brikama Magistrates Court.

Gibba was alleged to have, on 23 July 2014 at Farato village in the Kombo South district of the West Coast Region, stolen one cow valued at D17,000 being the property of one Alieu Jawo, and thereby committed an offence..

Testifying, Sergeant 1048 Bah attached to Farato Police Station said he recognized the accused and could recall what happened on 23 July 2014.

The accused was brought to the station with a group of people and a cow which they said was found with him.

Gibba was interrogated and admitted stealing the animal, Sgt Bah said, adding that the complainant, Aliue Jawo, went to the station and said he owns the cow.

The station officer at Farato police station asked for a photograph of the cow, which was later entrusted to the owner, Alieu Jawo, he said.

He identified the photo of the cow, which was tendered and admitted as an exhibit.

The case was adjourned to 6 January 2015.
