Kebba Lang Darboe, a prosecution witness in an alleged housebreaking and theft case involving one Dephon Riley, was recently cross-examined.
Under cross-examination, the witness revealed that on arrival at the scene, they noticed that the doorframe and the door were removed from the complainant’s house.
He adduced that the complainant alleged that $1,300, D2,000, 170 Euros, eight handbags and eight canvases were stolen from his house.
When asked whether it was correct that all what he said was what the complainant told him, the witness replied in the affirmative.
When further quizzed, the prosecution witness adduced that he could not confirm whether there was money in the complainant’s house.
Still under cross-examination, the witness testified that he did not know whether there were handbags or canvases in the complainant’s house.
He adduced that it was the first time he visited the complainant’s house.
When further questioned whether he was present when the doorframe and the door of the complainant’s house were removed, he replied in the negative, adding that he did not know who removed the door.
The case, presided over by Magistrate Ngube of the Kanifing Magistrate Court, was adjourned till Friday for defence.
