The trial of Mam Sait Ceesay, former State House Press Officer, on Wednesday registered some progress as the prosecution on Wednesday closed its case.

When the case was called by the consent of the prosecution and the defense counsel, the witness statement of J.T. Kujabi and the statement of the accused, Mam Sait Ceesay, were tendered in court as exhibits.

It could be recalled that the accused, Mam Sait Ceesay, is being tried on two counts of false publication and broadcasting. It was alleged that on or about 8th August 2007 having no reason to believe that it is true, Mr Mam Sait Ceesay published to and through the Daily Observer that Alex Dacosta had been appointed DPPR(Director Of Press and Public Relations) Office of The President when JT Kujabi was still the substantive holder of that office, and thereby committed and offence.

The case was presided over by Magistrate Kayode of the Banjul Magistrates' Court.

The case was adjourned to 14th May for the defence to open its case.
