The second prosecution witness (PW2), Elina Cole, who is also the Manager for Project Aid Third World recently testified in the trial of one Lamin Dibba, who is on trial for alleged stealing before Magistrate Tabally of the Kanifing Magistrates' Court.

Testifying before the court, Elina Cole said she recognised the accused person when he came with some police officers from the fraud squad to her office demanding for the file containing the transaction.

She said by then the chairman of the project, Mr. Matthias Kewteler, who was in Germany, had handed over a financial system to her, and informed her that there was a staff fund where some money was missing from the project.

According to her, that was the time she came to know the problem between the accused person and Project Aid Third World.

PW2 testified that it was shown to her through the computer system how everything happened on the transaction relating to the staff fund, whether or not it was a loan taken by staff.

She said as project manager, she went through the whole system and the bank statement, and discovered that withdrawal of some money has been made such as D95,000, D200,000 and D35,000.

She added that the bank statement showed that the withdrawal was made by Yama Samateh Low (PW1), and that this was between 1990 and 2010.

She adduced that the matter was later reported to the fraud squad in Banjul, and a statement was obtained from her.

The case adjourned to 13th October 2010 for continuation.
