Bakary Sanyang, alias Torres, is among the rising young stars of footballers in Bakoteh.
The 16-year-old Sanyang, currently playing with Bakau United in the Gambia Football Association’s top flight football, was born and nurture in Bakoteh, where he started playing football at the age of seven.
He has played for a host of local clubs including Nawetaan clubs.
He has featured in teams like Bakoteh Lower Basic School team and SOS Junior secondary School team where he won two trophies in 2001.
He later joined Sanchaba United in the senior Nawetaan competition.
Sanyang, who is eyeing a permanent place in Bakau United first team when this year’s GFA league season begins, has also won a league title during his spell with Sanchaba FC as the team captain in 2009.
Torres played for Gintos FC in the Serrekunda West Nawetaan, before proceeding to Dakar to join Supfoire FC.
He later moved to Senegal, where he steered for Supfoire FC, a Nawetaan team in Kaolack, and went on to guide the Senegalese club to a trophy, finishing the team’s top scorer with six goals to his name.
In 2010 season, Sanyang joined Bakau United in the GFA first division league with whom he remained a promising talent.
