Prime Bank MD asked plaintiff to resign, says witness

Regina Enito John who testified on 27 July 2011 in the lawsuit against Prime Bank, on behalf of one Emmanuel Ina George (the plaintiff) before Magistrate Ngube of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, said the managing director of Prime Bank, Bernard Mendy, asked the plaintiff to resign.

The witness further told the tribunal that he works with Galp Energia and had known the plaintiff for 15 years.

He adduced that he accompanied the plaintiff last year to the Prime Bank premises for hearing.

He narrated that Mr Bernard Mendy, Mrs Abakeh Williams and other two gentlemen and a lady, whose names he could not remember, also attended the meeting, adding that the managing director asked the plaintiff whether he had resigned as the treasury dealer.

The plaintiff replied that it was not an issue, he said.

He also stated that when the managing director of the bank asked the plaintiff to resign, the plaintiff said he was not going to resign.

The case was then adjourned till 2 August 2011, for cross-examination.
