Presentation Girls have won the first-ever female cricket championship beating Muslim High by six runs in a pulsating match on Saturday at the KG5 grounds.
The champions scraped through the final on the ticket of best loser after been defeated in their semi-finals.
But against Muslim in the final Saturday, Presentation reassured fans that they are the team to beat in the nine team competition.
Muslim won the toss but selected Presentation to bat and they went on to set a target of 67, with Michel Mendy top scoring with 25v runs.
In reply Muslim fought a gallant fight but even the consummating skills of top scorer Haddy Walley could not save the day for Muslim.
Their quest to reach the target was greatly helped by Mariama Sanno who also scored 2 runs in the blistering sunny evening at Half-Die.
In the end Muslim finished at 61 runs, making Presentation Girls vocational training champions of the schools female cricket tourney.
The match was presided over by top officials from the cricket association including President Johnny Gomez.
He said the tournament is just one of the many revitalization and promotions of schools cricket embarked on by his association.
The technical director said the techniques and skills of the girls from all nine teams have been “very impressive”.
