Porcupines Sporting club set to organise basketball tourney

The Porcupines Basketball sporting club which was founded on 27th July 2009 is set to organise a Basketball tournament, billed from 5th-15th February 2010, at the Independence Stadium Basketball Court in Bakau.

The invitational club tournament Pointsport was informed would involve six (6) male teams, dubbed 2010 Kombo Invitational Men's Basketball Tournament.

The event is equally slated as the club's preliminary contribution towards the activities marking the forthcoming Independence Anniversary.

The names of the other five local clubs and a Senegalese counterpart will in due course be released for public interest.

Meanwhile, the organising committee is working relentlessly behind the scene to ensure a successful event.

Efforts are being made to enjoy the public and corporate bodies' generous support in this regard.

The members of the organising committee are as follows:

Ben E.K Hoopers (Chairman),  Sheikh Omar Fye (Vice- Chairman), Ousainou Cham ( Events Manager), MS. Aminate Sowe (Teams Co-coordinator), Bai Cham (Grounds Manager), Isatou Touray ( Security and Complaints Manager) and Lamin Drammeh of The Point Newspaper to serve as the Public Relations Manager.

A special task force is put in place to ensure that a high standard of discipline is maintained during the competition.

Subsequently, a selection of outstanding players will face Porcupines Sporting Club, aimed at promoting and developing other sporting disciplines like male and female football, volleyball, handball, etc.

The public, therefore, is highly invited to attend the programme.

In a similar development, Porcupines Sporting Club is hosting a friendly return match at the Independence Stadium grounds at 4.30pm on Friday 8th January, 2010 against their Serrekunda East counterpart as part of the preparation before the start of the programme.
