Magistrate Effim of the Brikama Magistrates' Court recently convicted and sentenced one Buba Dampha to a fine of D500, in default to serve one month in prison for wearing a PIU uniform without authority.
According to the facts as narrated by the police prosecutor, Sgt. 260 A. Colley it happened on 5th March 2010, at the Brikama car park, when one Corporal Peter Jarju saw the accused with full police intervention uniform.
He said Cpl Jarju later recognised the convict as a police officer, who was earlier dismissed from the service.
Subsequently, he said, the convict was arrested and taken to the Brikama Police Station, where he was cautioned and charged with the offence committed.
The convict admitted the facts as true and then begged the court to temper justice with mercy.
