Pipeline Mosque Foundation has given a total of 300 bed sheets to Serekunda General Hospital, Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital, Tanka Tanka Psychiatric Hospital and Brikama Health Centre.
The bed sheets, worth more than D100,000, were distributed as follows: Serekunda General Hospital received 100 bed sheets plus D25,000 cheque for the upkeep of the mortuary which was adopted by the foundation; Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital, 100 bed sheets; Tanka Tanka Psychiatric Hospital, 50 bed sheets; and another 50 bed sheets went to Brikama Health Centre.
The presentation of the 300 bed sheets, donated by Ahmed Diab of Emporium, was held at Serekunda General Hospital in Kanifing on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Alieu D. Badjie, public relations officer of the general hospital, said the hospital has seen “remarkable developments” since it started partnering with Pipeline Mosque Foundation.
He said the foundation has rendered “numerous supports” to the hospital.
Baba Njie, chief executive officer of the hospital, said the services at the hospital mortuary have improved since the foundation adopted it.
He said the foundation has not only been supporting the upkeep of the mortuary or providing bed sheets but it has also been providing ‘Iftar’ for the hospital staff during Ramadan.
The hospital administrator, Tumani Janneh, said it is no regret being associated with the foundation.
Alhaji Dawda Jagne, first vice president of Pipeline Mosque Foundation, said the efforts and initiatives of the foundation are possible thanks to their “very generous” sponsors.
He said they have plans to expand and modernise the mortuary of Serekunda General Hospital.
With more sustained support, the foundation intends to continue its generosity and extending support to health centres in Bansang and other places.
