PDP Gambia chapter organizes fundraising and dinner

Members of Nigeria’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Gambia chapter recently embarked on a fundraising activity and dinner at held at the Sheraton Beach Hotel and Spa.

The dinner brought together different Nigerian personalities residing in The Gambia, including the Nigerian High Commissioner to The Gambia.

The dinner witnessed numerous pledges from different personalities, ranging from physical cash, printing of party’s T-shirts, mobilizing people, and the launching of the party website, among others.

Speaking at the dinner, the chairman of the PDP Gambia chapter, Mr Osatohanmwen, said it was a great and important day, as it brought together lovers of their great nation, Nigeria, and the members of the PDP party.

He added that the programme was meant for raising funds for the PDP Gambia chapter, and urged the members to donate generously.

In her remarks, the Nigeria High Commissioner to The Gambia, Ms Ester John Audu, said a political party is about people coming together to champion a cause, noting that the PDP’s logo is an umbrella.

An umbrella could provide protection from the direct heat of the sun, and shelter from the rain.

She added that the PDP in Nigeria is a party that embraced everybody, and that despite the challenges at home, the PDP remains focused, and Nigeria too remains focused.

The programme was meant for fund raising in order to assist the Gambia chapter, she announced.
