Mr. Bakary S.S Jadama, Executive Director of Baddibu base NGO Partnership for Community and Environmental Development (PCED), has reaffirmed his NGO's commitment to complementing government efforts in working towards sustainable development and food self-sufficiency for the country.

Speaking in an interview with Youth Forum, Mr.Jadama, himself a youth, implored Gambians especially youths to take agriculture seriously. He said that rice happens to be the country's staple food and there is a need for people to go in for a mechanised system of farming in empowering rural farmers for the attainment of food security.

Jadama believes that subsidising farmers with farm implements, fertilizer and seeds among other things will immensely contribute to the attainment of food security.

He highlighted the need for much more priority to be given to agriculture.

He expressed his organization's willingness in partnering with any other organization or agency  to help improve the country's agriculture sector.
