Pardoned prisoner arraigned for alleged theft

A man called Ebrima Cham was recently arraigned before Magistrate Gomez of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, charged with stealing a motor vehicle and stealing after previous conviction.

The charge sheet presented to court in count one stated that the accused, Ebrima Cham, on 12 August 2015 at Fajara in the Kanifing Municipality, stole one motor vehicle with registration number BJL 9469K marked EZZO dark navy blue colour valued at D225,000, the property of one Elbashir Faye.

Count two stated that he stole one motor vehicle with registration number BJL 9469K marked EZZO dark navy blue colour valued at D225,000, after being previously convicted and pardoned by the President.

He denied any wronging and was granted court bail of D400,000 with two Gambian sureties who must deposit their ID cards.

The case was adjourned to 25 August 2015.
