Paramount Chief hails Gambian women

The Paramount Chief of The Gambia, Alhagie Demba Sanyang has applauded the Gambian women for their loyalty and commitment towards nation-building and for giving a helping hand to the Gambian leader in his farming activities.

According to him, the move spearheaded by the Vice-President, Aja Isatou Njie Saidy clearly shows the love Gambian women have for President Jammeh.

Chief Sanyang added that the gesture is a clear indication that the Gambian women are indeed committed to the fight against hunger.

By looking at the turn out of the women at the President's farm, he said, Gambian women, no doubt, appreciate the President's farming venture.

Noting that farming is the only way to restore food security in the country, Alhagie Demba Sanyang, said if the trend continues like this, years to come The Gambia will not import rice. 

Chief Sanyang further expressed appreciation to the women for their solidarity with the Gambian leader.

He also thanked the Executive Director of Women Bureau for co-ordinating the event.

For his part, the Governor of Western Region, Mr. Lamin Sanneh expressed similar sentiment and said the development of any country lies on the shoulders of women.

He further described the Gambian women as giants of the country, as manifested by their participation, hard work and commitment to nation- building.
