Fifteen Gambians on Monday 11 February commenced a four-day training of trainers’ course on Chess Arbiter Course, at the Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) building.
The training course was meant to get The Gambia participate in the 2014 Olympia competition in Norway.
The opening ceremony was witnessed by the President of the Gambia Chess Federation, Antuman Njie, the Executive Secretary of the National Sports Council, Mamudou Max Jallow and Momodou Demba of the GNOC, among others.
The President of the federation, Antuman Njie, thanked the two international officials for their support and assured them for a great commitment to the decentralisation of discipline in the country.
On behalf of the GNOC, Momudou Demba assured the federation of great collaboration and then urged the participants to make good use of the opportunity.
Max Jallow also implored the federation and the participants to decentralise the game to the grass root level, as according to him, it helps them to develop the discipline in the country.
