Mr Jammeh replaced the former permanent secretary Ebrima Jawara, who has returned to the Office of the President, according to our sources.
When contacted for confirmation, Mr Jammeh said: “Yes, I am now the permanent secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, and I received my appointment letter on Friday as the permanent secretary 1 under the Ministry of Agriculture.”
Asked about his reaction, Mr Jammeh thanked God, saying it is a challenge, and promised to live up to expectations.
All that is needed is teamwork, dedication and honesty to our work, he said.
Mr Jammeh, an experienced official in agriculture, is said to have served the Department of Agriculture under the Ministry of Agriculture in various capacities across the regions of the country.
