'Our Dismissal from MRC Was wrongful'

One of the aggrieved men that instituted a lawsuit against the Medical Research Council has asserted that his dismissal from MRC was not in accordance with the conditions of service of the research council.

Alieu Faal, an ex-steward with MRC, was alongside his former colleague, sacked by the research council but feeling wrongfully treated and dehumanised, the duo took their case to the corridors of justice, with the hope that 'justice' will one day be seen to be done.

Faal, in giving his testimony at the high court in Banjul yesterday, explained that he was issued a warning letter prior to his dismissal but that the letter was signed by the chairman of MRC Workers' Union.

The two aggrieved ex-employees of MRC are seeking redress for what they consider wrongful dismissal, for damages, and 25 per cent interest on any amount due.

The case resumes on 3rd June 2008.
