As part of its annual activities, the Executive Director of the National Youth Service Scheme (NYSS), accompanied by his management team will today (Thursday 29th) embark on a nationwide tour of all training institutions, where corps members are deployed for skills acquisition.
According to a news release from the NYSS, the tour of training institutions and NYSS facilities is an integral part of management's function, which is also in line with the monitoring mechanism that NYSS has put in place.
The tour is designed not only to assess its operational efficiency, among other things, but also the level of compliance by all stakeholders as contained in Section 12(1) and (2) (a)- (g) of the NYSS Act 1999.
It is also designed to visit all NYSS/SDF/Gamjobs loan beneficiaries, as part of its loan recovery efforts. This is necessitated by the high default rate in loan repayment, coupled with a series of correspondences from both SDF and Gamjobs demanding full payment of these loans.
According to the release, the tour seeks to strengthen the already existing relationship between NYSS and its partners, as well as serve as a barometer to evaluate the effectiveness of trainers' commitment to training of corps members.
It also seeks to confirm the compliance pedigree among corps members by way of regularity, attendance, punctuality, discipline (personal commitment) responsiveness to training directives, initiative, creativity, vision etc.
