NRP, APRC candidates nominated for Lower Saloum by-election

The opposition National Reconciliation Party (NRP) has thrown in their hat in the ring to challenge the ruling APRC party nominated candidate for the Lower Saloum by-election, slated to take place on 6 August 2015.

In its Declaration of Results of Nomination of National Assembly By-election for Lower Saloum Constituency in the Central River Region, the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) stated: “In accordance with Section 42 and 52 of the Elections Act, Mr Kaba Touray has been duly nominated through the APRC Party ticket to contest for the position of National Assembly Member for Lower Saloum Constituency.

“Mr Modou Bamba Gaye has also been nominated through the NRP for the position of National Assembly Member for the same constituency.

“Therefore in accordance with Section 53, subsection (2) (a) of the same Elections Act, electionwill take place on 6th August 2015 in order to fill the positionof the National Assembly Member for Lower Saloum Constituency.”
