Mbye Njie, who was arraigned at the Kanifing Magistrates' Court three years ago, was again brought before the same court.
He was arraigned before magistrate Drammeh, charged with stealing, wilful damage to property and assaulting a police officer.
The prosecuting officer, Inspector Touray, applied to the court to remand the accused in custody.
He argued that the accused is a habitual offender, and if he was granted bail, he would abscond and put his surety in trouble.
Consequently, magistrate Drammeh granted the application and remanded the accused in custody.
According to the complainant's testimony, the accused, Mbye Njie, three years ago hit him with an axe handle on his head in his shop, as he pretended to be buying goods.
The complainant went further to tell the court that he fell on the floor, as blood started oozing from his head. And then rushed to the hospital by those, who came to his aid. He narrated that after he was discharged from hospital, his relatives decided to send him abroad for further treatment.
