In
making the world a better place to live for the poor and the needy, Noor Aid
Saturday donated some food items, equipment and machines to the poor/less
privileged and needy people across Kombo North and West Coast Region.
The
items worth 1.2 million dalasis, these includes seventy-five wheelbarrows,
twenty sewing machines, ten welding machines, forty large mattresses, seven
hundred bags of rice of 25kg, vegetable oil, and bags of sugar.
Noor
Aid is a registered charity organisation based in Manchester, UK, with a branch
office at Wellingara, Kombo North, their primary aim is helping the poor and
needy in Africa and Asia, while much of their works are concentrated in The
Gambia.
Secretary
General Ousman Darboe said between 7th and 12th December, they will distribute
additional 2000 or more bags of rice to the needy in different locations across
the country.
Mr
Darboe outlined that in the past, they have constructed wells, provide food
worth a million dalasi to poor and needy people in different communities across
the country during last Ramadan 2019.
Hashim
Bharucha, Director of the charity said on their first visit to The Gambia in
2002, they witnessed large Muslim population without even basic essential needs
like water, electricity, shelter and adequate food
He
encouraged beneficiaries to always remember to pray for those who provided the
items so that Allah can continue blessing them and help them to do more.
Saikou
Marong, National Assembly Member for Latrikunda thanked Noor Aid for the
gesture, and assured the organisation of his continuous support to enable them
to maintain their humanitarian services.
