Nianija NAM Trial Deferred

The on-going drug trial involving the former National Assembly member for Nianija constituency, Hon Dawda Manneh, and his co accused Demba Baldeh, continues on Thursday 16 October 2008 at the Banjul Magistrates' Court before principal magistrate, Edrissa Mbai.

On the resumption of the trial Momodou Jobe, a police prosecutor from the NDEA, holding brief for the State applied for the case to be stood down. The application was granted.

However Mrs Marie Wood, State Counsel, later informed the court that the accused's counsel was appearing at the High Court on another matter and could not attend the present suit. She agreed on the adjourned date which is 23rd October 2008.

It could be recalled that the accused, former Nianija NAM Hon Dawda Manneh, and co accused Demba Baldeh, are standing two trial charges, count (1) in relation to trafficking of 9Kg 260grammes of cannabis, and count(2) conspiracy.
