Tijan Ceesay, a narcotics officer, recently testified in a drug case involving one Buba Jatta, who was alleged to have been in possession of prohibited drug, at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Tabally.

Officer Ceesay told the court that he is a narcotics officer attached to Kairaba Police Station and that he recognised the accused person.

He recalled 13 August 2012, when he was part of a team of officers led by S/O Jatta that went to the residence of the accused person at Sukuta.

He said that on their arrival at the residence of the accused person, they found him sleeping, they knocked at the door and he opened it.

They identified themselves and told him that they wanted to conduct a search on his house, to which the accused complied.

A search was conducted and they found three-and-a-half parcels of suspected cannabis in a sack hanging under his inner door, he said.

The accused was confronted with the said cannabis and he admitted to be the owner. He was therefore arrested and taken to Bundung Police Station.

Officer Ceesay said he wrote a statement to that effect.

The case was adjourned till 22 January 2013.
