A witness, Sarrany Badjie, recently testified at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court in the case involving one Saidou Trawally accused of being in possession of drug.
Badjie told the court he is a narcotics officer attached to Sibanor NDEA Station and that he recognised the accused person.
He recalled the 15th day of January 2012, while at Bullock checkpoint, where he received a telephone call from someone who was on the same vehicle with the accused, that there was somebody in the said vehicle who was suspected to be in possession of suspected cannabis.
He said the vehicle number was BJL 9820, and he shared the information with his colleagues, adding that upon the arrival of the said vehicle, he stopped it for normal checking.
The witness added that they conducted a search on the vehicle and the accused was later taken to their charge office where he was searched and they found three big bundles of suspected cannabis.
The accused was later taken to Sibanor Police Station where he was cautioned and charged with the offence committed, he said, adding that he later made a statement to that effect.
The case was then adjourned till 31 May 2012.
