The National leprosy and Tuberculosis Control program (NLTP) yesterday organised a two-day workshop for National Assembly Members on TB case management at the Paradise Suites Hotel.
Delivering his key note address at the occasion, the chief nursing officer at the Department of State for Health and Social Welfare said the aim of the training is to get NAM's to understand the state of TB and the efforts being made to control the disease in The Gambia so that TB will remain a top national priority.
Mr. Njie added that, in The Gambia, diagnosis and treatment of TB is provided free of charge to all irrespective of nationality.
For his part, the manager of NLPT Department of State for Health, Adama Jallow, stated that the objective of the training is to discuss the epidemilogy of TB as a global burden and also to give an update on the TB situation and the on-going nationwide DOTS expansion in The Gambia.
