Mustapha Charles Camara is new Presidential Affairs Minister

President Yahya Jammeh has added to his list of cabinet ministers Mustapha Charles Camara, who was appointed Monday as the new Minister of Presidential Affairs.

Son of Assan Musa Camara, former Vice President in the first Republic, Mustapha Charles Camara replaced Dr Njogu L Bah, who was last week reassigned to the portfolio of Minister of Information and Communication Infrastructure.

A news release from the presidency announced Monday evening that President Yahya Jammeh has in the same vein appointed Madi Jatta as Deputy Minister of Presidential Affairs.

Mr Jatta, who was last week appointed as acting Secretary General and Head of the Civil Service, also had his appointment confirmed as Secretary General and Head of the Civil Service with effect from 31st December 2012.

A graduate of the University of New York with a first degree and post graduate diploma in development studies, Mustapha Charles Camara, 57, was up to the time of his appointment serving as the Permanent Secretary No.1 at the Office of the President.

He served in various government ministries including the ministries of Health, Agriculture, Local Government and Lands, Fisheries and Natural Resources, Attorney General and Ministry of Justice and at the Social Security and Housing Finance Corporation (SSHFC).

He also worked at various United Nations agencies, including the Food and Agriculture Organisation and UNICEF.

He was assistant Commissioner in the North Bank Region, during the transition period from 1994 to 1996.
