Murder of Two Women Case Reaches High Court

The alleged double murder case, which happened on 2nd March 2009 at Kerewan village in the North Bank Region, has been transferred to the special court at the Banjul High Court.

The case was first mentioned at the Banjul Magistrates' Court before it was transferred to the special court at the Banjul High Court.

At yesterday's hearing before the high court, the presiding judge, Justice Moses Richard, made an order for the Master of the High Court to provide legal representation for the accused Amadou Jarra.

The 23-year-old Amadou Jarra, a Malian national, is standing trial for allegedly murdering two women at Kerewan village in the North Bank Region.

On count one, the accused Amadou Jarra on 2nd March 2009, at Kerewan village in the North Bank Region murdered one Nyimasata Ceesay by stabbing her with a knife.

On count two, the accused Amadou Jarra on 2nd March 2009, at Kerewan village in the North Bank Region, murdered one Kinty Fatty by stabbing her with a knife.

The case has been adjourned until 6th April 2009.
