Mobile theft case heard

One Habibou Manjang, a resident of Jamisa village, testified recently in the trial of one Bubacarr Njie, who was accused of stealing mobile phones, before the Brikama Magistrates' Court.

In his testimony before Magistrate Nkea, the first prosecution witness, Habibou Manjang, told the court that on 30th June 2010 he closed from work, and placed his two Nokia mobile phones in his sitting room.

While he was in his bedroom, he heard a noise in his sitting room. He came out, and discovered that the two phones were missing.

According to Mr. Manjang, he stepped outside the house, and saw the accused person running out of his compound. He said he ran after him, but could not apprehend him.

Consequently, he added, he reported the matter to the Brikama police station, and the accused was subsequently arrested. Hearing continues.
