Erna Emanuels, the founder of an organisation called Different Approach, through the Miranda Nehme Group has sponsored a Social Science student to pursue his education at the University of The Gambia.
The sponsorship, amounting to D15, 000.00 was handed over to Jobel Ceesay yesterday at the Miranda Nehme Group office in Bakau, to help further his education at the UTG.
Speaking at the presentation, Erna Emanuels said "the purpose of the foundation is to reach better understanding between different cultures by giving lectures to students."
"Last year I gave lectures to some students in a Primary School in Holland, I told them my experience in The Gambia. These students organised a fundraising and offered me D10, 000. 00 to help people in The Gambia," she stated.
According to her, she had added D2, 000. 00 to the sum, while Hanna Semega-Janneh also contributed D3, 000. 00.
"Altogether, we gathered D15, 000. 00 to sponsor Jobel Ceesay to further his education at the UTG," she explained.
Erna who is very much in love with The Gambia, also promised that when she returns home, she will raise more funds to help Gambian children.
For her part, Miranda Nehme of Miranda Nehme Group said they have more projects in the pipeline, which she said, are geared towards helping Gambian Children.
Jobel Ceesay, the beneficiary commended Miranda Nehme Group for the support given to him.
"I was granted admission at the UTG in 2007, but due to constraints I could not enroll then, but finally with this money I will start my studies in January at the University," Jobel concluded.
