Mass Axi Gai appointed ambassador to Ethiopia

Mass Axi Gai, minister of fisheries from October 2012 to January 2015, has been appointed Gambia’s ambassador to Ethiopia, reliable sources told The Point newspaper.

Mr Gai has served as ambassador of Gambia to Guinea Bissau from 2010 to 2012 and later transferred to serve as Gambia’s ambassador to Dakar.

In a related development, two ambassadors have been recalled to the home service.They are Sarjo Jallow, Gambia’s ambassador to Ethiopia, and Yusupha Kah, Gambia’s ambassador to France.

The Gambia’s embassy in France has been downgraded as a consulate.Mr M.B.O. Cham, who was charge d’affaires at the Gambia’s embassy in Nigeria, has been promoted as ambassador to Nigeria.

Madam Fatou Njie, who was chief protocol of the First Lady, has been appointed as deputy head of mission in Abuja, Nigeria.

The sources added that Mr Njogu Saer Bah, who was appointed permanent secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has had his service terminated.
