One Buba Yabo of Busumbala village was on Tuesday 31st March 2009 before Brikama Magistrates' Court presided over by Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh, charged with murder contrary to section 187 of the criminal code cap 10 Vol III laws of the Gambia.

According to the particulars of the offence on or about the 29th March 2009 at Busumbala village Kombo North, the accused Buba Yabo hit one Jainaba Jarju with an iron nail thereby causing her death.

When the charge sheet was read to him and interpreted to him in the language he claimed to understand, he pleaded guilty.

Meanwhile the magistrate told the court that by the nature of the offence the accused is charged with, the case cannot proceed without legal representation. "If the accused cannot provide a lawyer for himself then the honourable Master of the high court will provide one for him," he added.

The accused told the court that he had reported the matter at the Yundum Police station before the incident happened. He told the court that the reason why he did it is because he was asked to go out of the compound and all his property were thrown outside.

At that juncture the case was adjourned to the 21st April 2009 and the accused was remanded in custody at the state central prison until the next adjournment date.
