A man called Alfusine Bojang was recently arraigned before Magistrate Hilary Abeke of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court for being in possession of expired food.

The particulars of offence stated that the accused, Alfusiane Bojang, on 20 July 2015 at Lamin Market was found in possession of expired goods such as 17 bottles and two five-liter gallons of vinegar, which he believed or knew to be expired.

The accused, on the same day, month, year and place, interfered with the seized food by altering the vinegar which was confiscated from him, by replacing it with water.

At that juncture, the state counsel, Ms Sambou and Mr S.K Jobe, applied for an adjournment to produce their witness at the next adjournment date.

Defence counsel Lamin Darboe had no objection to the prosecution’s application, but applied for bail for the accused person.

The accused was granted bail of D500,000 with two Gambian sureties.

The matter was adjourned to 21 December 2015, for hearing.
