Dawda Jaiteh who is standing trial at the Kanifing Magistrates' Court before Magistrate Basiru Mahoney on three count charges of indecently insulting or annoying females, personating public officer and stealing has being convicted on count three. He vehemently denied count one and two respectively.
Dawda Jaiteh was recently convicted and sentenced after admitting guilt on count three of stealing to one-year imprisonment.
The particulars of the offence on count three revealed that the accused on or about the month of February 2009, at the Fajara Barracks in a residential area stole from the house of Mathew Demba a soldier, his wallet containing his Military I.D. card.
In his judgement, the presiding Magistrate told the court that the accused pleaded guilty to the offence of stealing from a dwelling house that belongs to a security personnel of the Gambia National Army is an aggravating offence.
He consequently sentenced the accused to one-year imprisonment taking into consideration his plea of guilty and mitigating circumstances.
The court continues trial on count one and two respectively.
