Man convicted for assault

A man called Biran Jallow was Monday convicted by the Brikama Magistrates’ Court, presided over by Magistrate Jagne.

Jallow, who was convicted for assault, causing actual bodily harm, was bound over to keep the peace for a period of six months, in default he would pay a fine of D3,000 and D1,000 for damages to the complainant.

The charge sheet read in court indicated that the accused, Biran Jallow, on 15 November 2013, at Jambur village, Kombo South, West Coast Region, assaulted one Mamadou Jallow with a cable on his left arm, causing him actual bodily harm.

According to the facts of the case, it happened on 15 November 2013, at Jambur village when the complainant was coming from Jambanjelly village going towards Nema with a pedal bicycle.

At the entrance of the village, the complainant and the accused collided, after which the complainant went to a shop to buy cigarette where the accused met him, insulted his parents and further assaulted him with a cable on his left arm, causing him injury.

As a result, the complainant went to Sanyang Police Station to lodge his complaint from where he was taken to Sanyang Community Health Centre, where he was treated and issued with a medical paper.

The accused was later cautioned and he confessed.
