Magistrate Surahata Danso of the Bundung Magistrates' Court on Wednesday convicted and sentenced one Sheriff Ceesay to pay a fine of D1, 000, in default to serve six months in prison.
Mr. Ceesay, who pleaded to the charge of assault, was also ordered to compensate the complainant, Aja Jatta in the sum of D1, 500, in default to serve nine months in prison.
According to the charge sheet, Mr. Ceesay assaulted Ms. Aja Jatta by beating her all over her body.
