A man was yesterday arraigned before Magistrate Drammeh of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, charged with defilement of an under-age-girl contrary to the laws of the Gambia as amended by the Children’s Act 2005.
Jonathan Ehama denied the charge leveled against him, and was subsequently remanded in custody.
The Director of Public Prosecutions, M.Abdulahi, and Isatou Jawara, who represented the state, applied for a short adjournment to open their case.
The trial magistrate granted the application, and the case was adjourned to 13th April 2011.
According to the particulars of offence, the accused, Jonathan Ehama, on 16 April 2010 at Sanchaba in the Kanifing Municipality within the jurisdiction of the court, had carnal knowledge of an under-age girl.
