Head coach Luciano Mancini and his technical staff have kicked started a training programme, with nearly 30 local players, scouted from the 1st Division league clubs, at the National Technical Training Centre in Yundum.

This follows after a successful meeting with Division One league coaches in August 2012 on plans to institute a national team using locally-based players, a GFA media release has stated.

The training session began on 1st October and runs three days in the week, initially from Mondays through Wednesdays starting at 08:00am.

The objective of the training session is to build a foundation for a home-based team for The Gambia, and reinforce the strength of the senior national team, the Scorpions.

The training session is supervised by Head Coach Luciano Mancini and Bonu Johnson assisted by a technical support staff.
