He said the election would be held on 24 May 2017.

Mr Njai revealed that at the close of nomination on 10 May 2017, the nomination papers of candidates in the forthcoming election were accepted and endorsed by the IEC Returning Officers in Kanifing, Brikama and Janjanbureh Administrative Areas.

They are: Baboucarr Mansally of APRC in Tallinding; Rohey Dem of GDC in Tallinding, and Musa Badjie of UDP in Tallinding.

Alhagi Alpha MS Jallow, GDC in Old Jeshwang; Junkung SM Dukureh of UDP in Old Jeshwang; Araba Bojang of APRC in Bantanjang; Alieu Gibba of APRC in Somita, and Mamadi Manneh of UDP of Sukuta.

Therefore, Mr Njai said, in accordance with the Elections Act, elections would be held in Tallinding, Old Jeshwang and Galleh wards on Wednesday, 24 May 2017.

He further explained that in accordance with the same act, Araba Bojang, Alieu Gibba and Mamadi Manneh have been duly elected councillors for their various wards since “they were the only ones nominated in their various wards at the close of nomination”.
