Like-mind Friends Association in The Gambia last Thursday made a handsome donation to the SOS Children's Village, Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital and Mile II Central Prisons.
The donated items, which include 21 bags of rice and six gallon of 20 liters cooking oil, were shared between the beneficiaries.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony, Mr. Gabou Sylva, the Secretary of the RVTH Donation Committee commended the donors for their kindness, noting that the donation would go a long way in reducing their expenditures.
According to him, Like-mind Association is not out to make any profit but to give assistance to the needy. He called on other associations to emulate Like-mind in complementing government's effort.
For his part, Mr. Smart O. Thekire, the President of Like-mind Association said his association was founded in 2002 comprising businessmen with the sole objective of helping the poor and the needy.
He added that his association cannot give physical cash but can help in providing food items, which people will appreciate. He assured the beneficiaries of his association’s continued support, calling on others to extend a helping hand to the needy.
"We should always share with others, what God has given us," he concluded.
