Leket and Kunta Kinteh win bouts, Senegal wrestlers carry the day

Gambian Wrestlers Leket and Kunta Kinteh were the only winners from the Gambian camp in the first-ever ‘Boreh Dorr’ wrestling contest between Gambian and Senegalese wrestlers on Sunday.

Leket beat Bebe Zoos in the first bout while Kunta Kinteh of The Gambia defeated Cartus of Senegal.

Organised by Ablo Promotion and New Century Gambia Limited, the contest was named after His Excellency, Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya A.J.J. Jammeh.

The Gambian wrestlers secured two victories out of the six combats in the evening and the four victories went to the Senegalese group.

Littnicolai of Senegal defeated Jambarr of Armed Forces, Angleter of Senegal defeated Tangajir of The Gambia, while Gora of Senegal also defeated Tas Sayaram of The Gambia.

Famous Senegalese wrestler Zoos from the wrestling group Door Doorat beat his Gambian opponent Jinneh Morry in the grand combat.

He therefore received the President’s trophy as winner of the bout, whose full contest was attended by a cross-section of spectators at the Independence Stadium.
