The Gambia Football Federation has announced that its centre for football activity - the Independence Stadium in Bakau - is now closed to National League matches, according to news emanating from Football House in Kanifing layout.

Matches have now been shifted to SK East mini stadium and Father Gough Sports Complex in Manjai Kunda.

This is due to ongoing works at the National biggest sporting arena ahead of the country’s 52nd Independence anniversary celebration set for 18 February 2017.

League matches earlier scheduled to be played there have been moved to the mini stadiums at Father Gough Sports Complex in Manjai Kunda and Serrekunda East.

Matches will resume at the national stadium after the independence anniversary celebrations.

Nonetheless, CAF Champions League game between current Gambian champions Gambia Ports Authority and Ivory Coast’s vice champions Sewe Sports, scheduled for Sunday 12 February 2017, will go ahead at the Independence Stadium at 4pm.

The Independence Stadium management is currently working on logistics for the successful hosting of this international football match.
