The Central Bank of The Gambia and Bank PHB Friday opened the 2012 tournament of the Late Governor Famara Jatta Memorial trophy at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium, with a 2-0 score in favour of Central Bank.
Ousman Cham opened the score for the Central Bank of The Gambia (CBG) in the 6th minute of the game. Later Edrisa Kanteh netted the second goal in the 53rd minute to win the match.
The game was then entirely dominated by the CBG during the second half, but later Bank PHB failed to secure their goal which could have given them the chance to at least lessen the score against them.
In another development, Prime Bank on Saturday shared the spoil with ECOBank in a 2-2 score, which took place at the Father Gough Complex in Manjai.
Augustine Camara opened the score for ECOBank in the 23rd minute of the game.
However, Pap Jasseh could have made it for ECOBank but failed to utilize that chance in the 25th minute, but was later taken over by Augustine Camara who doubled his score in the 42nd minute.
Daniel Nicole levelled the first goal for Prime Bank in the second half after utilizing from a spectacular long shot to the surprise of everyone.
Abdou K. Touray scored an own goal, which was an advantage for Prime Bank, thereby ending the game 2-2.
In the other game, ICBank made it over Arab Gambian Islamic Bank at the same venue on Saturday by defeating AGIB 3-1.
Alieu Cham opened the score for ICB in the 13th minute of the game.
He later doubled the score in the 49th minute at a distance of less than 20 metres.
However, he managed to score his third goal from a long shot in the 62nd minute. The game was then dominated by ICB.
Later in the 73rd minute of the second half, AGIB capitalised on a penalty shot by Essa Saidy.
