Landlord-Tenant Murder Case At The Courts

The landlord-tenant reported murder case was yesterday mentioned at a magistrate court in Bundung.

Lamin Ceesay, who was arraigned on a charge of murder, an offence that carries a death penalty or life sentence is alleged to have caused the death of one Gibril Njie by hitting him with a pestle.

Lamin Ceesay reportedly quarreled with his tenant, Gibril Njie, last Sunday over D100 rent arrears, resulting in a row that led to the death of Gibril Njie.

Shortly after the case was mentioned, Magistrate Kayode transferred the case to the Special Criminal Court of the High Court.

Gibril is said to have been renting in Lamin Ceesay's compound at a monthly rent of D500.

According to reports, for the last month Gibril could not settle all the D500 but D400, leaving an outstanding balance of D100.
