Lamin United on Monday defeated Serrekunda East 1-0 in the week-three fixtures played at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium to bounce back in the 2013-2014 Gambia Football Federation (GFF) second division league.
Lamin United lost to Bombada United 1-0 in the all-West Coast Region derby game in the opening day of the country’s second tier played at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium a fortnight ago.
Lamin United knew that a defeat against Serrekunda East will really hinder their hopes of staying in the second tier as well as dashing their dreams of gaining promotion to the top tier next season.
They were therefore formidable in the midfield and launching several goal-scoring opportunities but managed to notch in a single goal to grab the maximum points.
Serrekunda East, who were unable to contain Lamin United in the game, also created some goal-scoring opportunities but blasted all their chances away thus the game ended 1-0 in favour of Lamin United.
The win has earned Lamin United 3 points in two games with a game in hand against Sait Matty. They are looking forward to registering positive results in their remaining games to fancy their chances of staying in the second tier as well as gaining promotion to the topflight.
Tallinding United, on the same day at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium, lost to Serrekunda United by two goals to nil.
On the same day at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium, KGI overcame Blue Stars FC by a lone goal.
